A Field Guide to Music
with Michael Field
A Field Guide to Music is a series of 12 hour-long programs in which Michael Field goes 'inside' some favourite pieces by great composers to highlight certain features which make each chosen work so effective. Sometimes these are historical or background features, but mostly the emphasis is on aspects of the structure of the music itself. Each program first discusses and illustrates some key musical details by playing short excerpts, followed by an uninterrupted performance of the same work. We hope that you enjoy the format and that it adds to your enjoyment of these wonderful pieces.
