Set in Poland in 1600, the beautiful Lodoïska has been entrusted by her father, Altamoras, into the care of the tyrant Dourlinski. She is in love with the young Count Floreski, but her father disapproves of his political sympathies and has promised her to Dourlinski. Floreski, accompanied by his squire Varbel, desperately set out in search of her and find her imprisoned in Dourlinski’s castle. Floreski challenges Dourlinski, but just at the moment the castle is attacked by Tartars. Dourlinski forgets about his prisoner and she is rescued by her lover.
