They are united through the machinations of Cressida’s uncle, Pandarus and pledge their lives together. Due to the machinations of war, Cressida is removed from Troy to join her father in the Greek camp. Troilus’ messages to Cressida are concealed from her and in despair she gives in to the advances of the Greek King Diomede. Troilus and Pandarus arrive in the Greek camp to take Cressida back after paying a ransom. Cressida is forced to choose between Troilus and Diomede and, when she will not renounce Troilus, Diomede’s anger leads to Troilus being murdered by Calkas. Cressida takes her own life.
